Compare Drug Price, Safety & Effectiveness

August 2006

Consumer Reports Best Buy Drugs
- is a public education project of Consumers Union, the publisher of Consumer Reports

Consumer Reports
launched a Web-based project in December 2004 that compares a variety of prescription drugs based on efficacy, price, and safety.  The site is designed to help consumers work with their physicians to identify the drugs that are most effective and affordable.  Often suggesting generics in place of brand name drugs.

Consumer Reports Best Buy Drugs™ eventually will compare approximately 20 categories of the most widely used drugs based on price and scientific evidence. When justified by the evidence, the organization will choose a Best Buy Drug in a given category.
