Residential State Supplement - Training & Support Grant People who do not need as much care as a nursing home resident may qualify for the Residential State Supplement (RSS) Program - a state-funded cash assistance program for aged, blind or disabled adults who are in need of assistance with personal care and/or supervision of medication. The RSS cash payment is used together with the individual's gross income to pay for living arrangements in a home approved by RSS. A personal needs allowance of $50.00 is also provided. People receiving RSS cannot live in a nursing home. For more information about this payment source and whether you might qualify, please contact us at Pro Seniors. Under a grant from Council on Aging of Southwestern Ohio (CoA), Pro Seniors provides training and support to the individuals/facilities who are certified by the RSS program to provide services to participating residents. We offer training four times a year, and a quarterly newsletter, as well as technical assistance to RSS certified providers, and to individuals interested in becoming certified. We visit each RSS provider every year, in conjunction with Council on Aging of Southwestern Ohio. Pro Seniors' long-term care ombudsmen are also advocates for residents who receive care and services in facilities certified as RSS providers. These settings include foster care, adult care homes, and participating residential care facilities (assisted living). |
